While explaining the importance of consistent winning habits and behaviors, the head coach said, “I’m here to tell you when we have the start of losing habits because I don’t want to develop them. We developed their habits, they’re hard to get out, that’s the problem with using habit.
“…Once they infiltrate this circle,” she continued. “They are hard to kill, so we have to stop before they become habits. And I’m going to tell you every time I see it, but then it’s incumbent upon you to stop it within yourself.”
Lawson also suggested the team “practice and play and behave like a winner,” if they want to “win games.” The American basketball coach believes that winning games is not something one just wakes up and decides.
“We can’t just decide you’re gonna be that day, a winner,” she said. “That’s not how it is. You have to be that every single day in your approach and then your execution.”
