Former Rutgers linebacker, Mohamed Toure, has officially committed to the Miami Hurricanes from the NCAA Transfer portal. This comes after Toure entered the portal as one of the top available linebackers in the spring window. The news comes from On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
His recruitment included interest from top programs like Miami, Penn State, Indiana, and North Carolina. Now, after reportedly taking visits to all of those schools over the past week and a half, the Hurricanes have earned his commitment. This was predicted by On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos earlier in the day on Friday.

Mohamed Toure’s Commitment to Miami Shakes Up the Transfer Portal Landscape
Rutgers standout linebacker Mohamed Toure has chosen to bring his talents to Miami for his next football chapter. This was arguably the biggest move of the spring transfer portal window. Fans reacted to the news.

Toure, who entered the past season as the top linebacker nationally, based on his preseason recognition, didn’t see the field at all. That’s with him, a team captain, having torn his ACL during practice in the fall of 2024 after having missed all of 2022 with a torn ACL as well from the spring.
Over his four other seasons prior to that with Rutgers, with 37 games played, Toure posted 168 tackles, 22.5 being for a loss, with 13.5 sacks. He also had five deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pair of interceptions.
That includes a career-best year as a senior the season prior, where he picked up 93 tackles, 10 for a loss, with 4.5 sacks, plus two deflections, a forced fumble, and an interception.
Toure is a native to Pleasantville, New Jersey. He was just outside of the Top 1,000 recruits as a three-star in the 2019 recruiting cycle. He was also rated as a Top 150 linebacker in the class, and a Top 25 prospect from out of the state, according to On3 Sports Industry Ranking.
With all of that, Toure was previously the top available transfer left in the portal prior to his commitment this afternoon. He is the No. 219 overall player and the No. 8 linebacker out of the 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players.
Toure is now the latest addition to a Top 10 class in the transfer portal, with 20 commitments now to Miami. Eight of those have joined the program this spring along with Toure, such as wide receivers Keelan Marion and Tony Johnson from BYU and Cincinnati respectively, as well as defensive back’s Jakobe Thomas, Keionte Scott, and Kamal Bonner, from Tennessee, Houston, and NC State and running back ChaMar Brown from North Dakota State and kicker Bert Auburn from Texas.

Those are several quality commitments for the Hurricanes with Toure being one of the biggest names they picked up. There could be many new starts come the start of the 2025 college football season.
