Talk about setting goals and crushing them! Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers just added another impressive achievement to his already stacked resume – and this one didn’t happen on the football field.
The former Georgia Bulldogs star just walked across the stage at UGA’s Terry College of Business commencement ceremony, earning his Finance degree in just four years. Even more impressive? He managed to finish his education despite leaving Athens after his junior year to pursue his NFL dreams. Now that’s what you call finishing strong!

Brock Bowers Balances NFL Life With Graduation From Georgia
So how exactly does a rookie NFL tight end find time to complete a college degree? For Bowers, it meant making some serious sacrifices. According to reports, the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft actually skipped voluntary Raiders workouts this spring to make sure he completed his remaining coursework. That’s commitment!

The moment was so special that his mom, DeAnna Bowers, couldn’t help but share it on social media, celebrating her son’s return to Athens for this major milestone. And can you blame her? How many 22-year-olds can say they’ve won two national championships, been drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft, AND earned a Finance degree in four years?
Bowers isn’t the only Bulldog hitting the books, either. Georgia’s football program is crushing it in the classroom under head coach Kirby Smart. This spring alone, 95 student-athletes from Georgia received their degrees, with ten football players among them. In fact, the program recently achieved its highest Academic Progress Rate in 19 years. Smart’s emphasis on balancing athletics with education is clearly paying off!
From Georgia Legend to NFL Star: Bowers’ Remarkable Journey
If you’re a college football fan, you already know Bowers is something special. During his three seasons with the Bulldogs, he led the team in receiving EVERY SINGLE YEAR! We’re talking 175 receptions, 2,538 yards, and 26 touchdowns. He even added 193 rushing yards and five more scores on just 19 carries. Talk about versatility!
Bowers was absolutely essential to Georgia’s back-to-back national championships and became the first tight end in school history to surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage in a season. Remember when he came back from tight-rope surgery on a high-ankle sprain in less than four weeks to help beat Ole Miss? That’s the kind of toughness you can’t teach.
And his rookie NFL season? Just casual stuff like setting a Raiders rookie record with 112 catches for 1,194 receiving yards and being named a finalist for Offensive Rookie of the Year. No big deal, right?
Georgia tight ends coach Todd Hartley perfectly summed up Bowers’ impact when he wrote: “Mission Accomplished BB. Your legacy as one of the GREATEST to ever wear the Red & Black has been cemented FOREVER. Proud to have been a small part of your journey kid!!”
With his degree now in hand, Bowers is even eligible for Georgia’s prestigious Circle of Honor – reserved for athletes who’ve made significant contributions both on and off the field.

For both Georgia and the Raiders, Bowers represents the complete package – a gifted athlete with the discipline and work ethic to excel in everything he does. While most of us struggle to balance work and life, this guy’s out here winning national titles, dominating the NFL, and collecting college degrees. What’s your excuse?
