Brian Xanders Returns to Florida as Jaguars Tap FSU Alum for Key Front Office Role

The Jacksonville Jaguars are continuing their organizational overhaul following a disappointing 4–13 season by making a strategic front office hire. According to NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the Jaguars have added former Florida State linebacker and veteran NFL executive Brian Xanders to their staff, a move that brings a highly respected FSU alum back to the Sunshine State.

Jaguars Hire FSU Alum Brian Xanders to Front Office

Xanders’ hiring adds both deep experience and strong Florida ties to a Jaguars franchise in the midst of a major reset. Jacksonville has already revamped its coaching staff by parting ways with Doug Pederson and bringing in Liam Coen as head coach. The team also hired Grant Udinski as offensive coordinator and Anthony Campanile as defensive coordinator, signaling a fresh direction.

With new general manager James Gladstone leading the charge, Xanders’ addition to the front office builds on the effort to retool the organization from the top down.

Xanders brings a decorated resume to Duval County. He most recently served as a senior personnel executive with the Los Angeles Rams from 2017 until his move to Jacksonville, working closely with general manager Les Snead to help shape one of the NFL’s most competitive rosters.

Prior to that, Xanders was the general manager of the Denver Broncos from 2009 to 2012, a period that included the drafting of key players like Demaryius Thomas and Von Miller. He also held senior personnel roles with the Detroit Lions (2013–2016) and spent over a decade with the Atlanta Falcons in various scouting and player operations capacities from 1994 to 2008.

But for Seminole fans, the move is especially meaningful. A former linebacker under legendary head coach Bobby Bowden, Xanders played at Florida State from 1989 to 1992.

During his collegiate career, the Seminoles posted an impressive 42-7 record and captured victories in four consecutive bowl games. Off the field, Xanders stood out academically as well, earning a spot on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference academic team. He holds both a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and an MBA from Florida State University.

The Jaguars already have several former Florida State players on their roster, and adding Xanders further deepens the team’s Seminole roots. His return to Florida not only strengthens the franchise’s front office but also bridges a connection to one of the state’s most storied football programs.

Xanders is expected to play a vital role in personnel decisions, talent evaluation, and roster development as Jacksonville looks to rebound from its difficult 2024 campaign. With a blend of on-field experience, executive savvy, and deep Florida ties, Xanders’ arrival marks another important step in the Jaguars’ mission to build a winning culture.
