Julian Sayin’s Tough Schedule Ahead Is ‘A Lot To Ask’ As He Follows Will Howard’s Path per Analyst

The Buckeyes have a demanding schedule in the upcoming college football season. The coach has assigned this task to Julian Sayin, Ohio State’s next QB1, to lead them against elite competition. Now in the program, he is set to follow in the footsteps of Will Howard.

Though it sounds exciting, the situation is not as perfect as it seems. While analysts are confident in his talent, some are still not convinced that the young star is ready to command the team from day one.

Analyst Defends Julian Sayin As Ohio State’s QB1 as He Faces a Grueling Schedule Ahead

Ohio State’s 2025 football schedule is packed with big games, tough road trips, and barely any breaks. The season kicks off with a huge showdown against Texas on August 30. Just weeks later, the Buckeyes head to Washington for another high-stakes game on September 27.

Things only get harder midseason. They’ll travel to face Illinois, Wisconsin, and Purdue—three consecutive road games that won’t be easy. On November 1, Penn State visits Columbus. And then comes the legendary rivalry game against Michigan in Ann Arbor on November 29.

The tough part of this exciting schedule is that Sayin, Ohio State’s new QB1, is stepping into this challenge during his first season as the starting QB. With high expectations and such a demanding schedule, one analyst believes the road ahead may be too much, too soon for the young quarterback.

“He’s got a very quick release. He’s got a special quick release. He’s very accurate with the ball. He doesn’t have a cannon, but he’s got a strong enough arm. I think he’s got probably a stronger arm than Will Howard,” the analyst explained while comparing the young star to Ohio State’s former QB.

Sayin has raw talent, but stepping into Howard’s leadership role brings extra pressure, especially since he is no longer just a backup QB. “Leadership-wise, being a young guy, how is he going to take control of this team and be the leader of this team that Will Howard was?” the analyst questioned.

According to the analyst, Sayin’s immediate challenge against Texas is the biggest concern, as he will face Arch Manning, who is already projected as the top 2026 NFL Draft prospect in the same position.

“Is it going to be right away against Texas? I think that’s a lot to ask. That’s a lot to ask. First game, as a starter, you’re playing the Longhorns, who are going to come here for a run. You’re wanting blood, obviously,” he stated.

The analyst seems hesitant about whether Sayin will be able to rise to the challenge quickly. He fears that the grueling schedule might keep him from truly shining. Despite that, the analyst wants to believe that the former backup quarterback can shine, though.

He added, “I don’t know. I’m convinced he’s going to be a good starting quarterback at Ohio State.”

Now it remains to be seen how Sayin handles the pressure, leadership, and loaded expectations in his debut season as a starting quarterback.
