However, in Sherrone Moore’s case, his suspension is tied to the Connor Stalions scouting scandal, which affected Michigan’s entire coaching staff and program. The controversy involved illegal in-game signal stealing, and Moore’s alleged deletion of text messages led to his two-game suspension.
Sherrone Moore to Miss Two Games, Michigan over Stalions Controversy
Michigan football just can’t seem to escape its past. The program’s history of controversy continues to hang over its head. Stalions were caught up in a scandal involving illegal scouting and signal stealing. The fallout led to major coaching suspensions and even some firings. Then the following year, they were hit with a three-year NCAA probation for letting non-staffers participate during the COVID-19 dead period.
Now, in 2025, Michigan finds itself in hot water again. Thankfully, the issue isn’t as explosive this time as in previous years. Moore is set to serve a two-game suspension as part of the school’s self-imposed penalties tied to the Stalions case. While this setback may damage the program’s image, fans can breathe a little easier that Moore isn’t getting fired.
His suspension won’t affect the start of Michigan’s season. Instead, Moore will sit out Week 3 against Central Michigan and Week 4 versus Nebraska. He’ll still be on the sidelines for the opener against New Mexico and the highly anticipated Week 2 clash against Oklahoma.
Still, some see this two-game punishment as more of a formality because the NCAA considers this a Level 2 violation, which could mean he tried to obstruct the investigation. If things are found wrong in a massive way following the inquiry, then more penalties may be on the way.
As soon as the news broke, Michigan fans flooded social media to express their frustration. Many seemed tired of hearing repeated allegations against their team. One fan posted, “This is nuts.” Another commented, “This is such a joke.” Some took a more sarcastic approach, congratulating both the team and the head coach for being in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
