The Biggest Questions Surrounding Texas Longhorns Going Into 2025-26 Season?

At the beginning of his segment on the Longhorns, Pate revealed what exactly he believed were the big questions surrounding Texas going into next season.

“Texas, I guess one of my biggest questions is, well, you lose 12 to the NFL, and I’m looking at Quarterback and it’s new, and you got four offensive lineman, your D-Line, you had to rebuild the interior of, Wide Receiver, as well,” the analyst explained.

With 12 players selected, the Longhorns had a record-breaking Draft in 2025, with the most players drafted in the entire history of the program.

The most notable among those picks were three first-rounders: Offensive Tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., Corner Jahdae Barron, and Wide Receiver Matthew Golden.

Texas Longhorns Can Win A National Championship If They Trust Recruitment and Development

The Longhorns also lost a significant amount of talent in the trenches at the offensive line and defensive line, losing two defensive tackles and two offensive tackles throughout the draft, including Alfred Collins.

“What’s fascinating is, they didn’t really go look at the portal much when it came to the Offensive Line, they’ve trusted their recruiting, they trust their development there,” Pate explained.

Texas ended their 2025 recruitment class with four five-star recruits: Safety Jonah Williams, edge rusher Lance Jackson, and Wide Receivers Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench.

“And you’ve got Arch Manning, a new starter at quarterback. If they’re right and can afford to trust that, then Texas can win a national championship this year,” Pate claimed at the end of his segment.

Manning is set to enter his first season as a starter, after sitting behind Quarterback Quinn Ewers last season, the Quarterback, who many believe will be the top prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft.

“But they start at Ohio State in week one, is it all going to be gelled together?” Pate also questioned, as Texas has a tough game on the road to start off their season, traveling to Ohio to take on last year’s National Championship winners.
