His mother worked hard as a hospital janitor, doing all she could to support the family. Determined to change their future, Sanders promised himself that she would never have to work again.
He fulfilled that promise by excelling in both football and baseball, earning over $40 million in his playing career and securing a four-year, $29 million contract as Colorado’s head coach. He also makes big money from endorsements—one of his biggest partners is Nike.
Speaking of Nike, the new shoe Deion Sanders has dedicated to his mother comes from this prestigious brand. This special edition, named the Nike Air DT Max 96 “Love Letter to Connie,” is set to drop on May 7, 2025, just in time for Mother’s Day, at a retail price of $170.

The sneaker features two shades of red, symbolizing Sanders’ time with the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons, with elegant pink and white accents woven into the design. The insole carries a personal touch with the words “Love Letter to Connie” stamped inside.
With just a few days until the release, Sanders shared a sneak peek of the sneakers on Instagram, captioning the post, “My Mama Has Shoes.”
This is part of his tradition of storytelling through footwear, following past designs that celebrated important moments in his career, like the “Signing Day” colorway, which was inspired by the flashy outfit he wore the night he was drafted into the NFL.
