Lanorris Sellers became a starter last season, and the 19-year-old’s stock has been rising since the football season ended. The South Carolina quarterback has been labeled as one of the best returning quarterbacks in college football. He has been popping up on different mock drafts, and he’s been touted to go as high as number two overall.
Sellers’ combination of size, mobility, and contact balance made him a nightmare to bring down last season. As a first-year starter, he threw for 2,534 yards, ran for 674 yards, and scored 25 touchdowns while completing 65.6% of his passes.

“One player that a lot of people are already excited about is Lanorris Sellers at South Carolina,” Reid said.
“He has a lot of Donovan McNabb, Anthony Richardson type of traits as a runner, he needs to continue to develop as a passer but he is one name that a lot of people are excited about.”
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler also has Sellers at number two overall.
“With his dual-threat skills, Sellers was one of the most entertaining college quarterbacks to watch last season. It is probably too early to be talking about him this early in the draft, but that will change if he takes another step in his development as a passer,” Brugler said.

The spotlight is expected to be on Sellers a lot this season as South Carolina are favored to make the playoffs. He threw for over 2,500 yards and scored 25 touchdowns in his first season as a starter. If he continues to work on his passing game as analysts suggest, he could be a real wildcard in the next year’s draft.
