Reports — Christian Clark Returns from Achilles Injury, Texas RB Set to Add Playmaking Spark to Backfield

As the 2025 season unfolds, there’s a bright spot on the horizon at the running back position for the Texas Longhorns and their fans. Christian Clark, a talented running back who missed the entire 2024 season due to a devastating Achilles injury, is now back on the field; according to recent reports, he’s looking as explosive as ever.

Yesterday, Inside Texas, an affiliate of On3Sports, broke the news that Clark has fully recovered from the injury that sidelined him last season. Eric Nahlin, a reporter for Inside Texas, noted that the former four-star recruit is back to his pre-injury form, showing the kind of playmaking ability that made him a highly sought-after prospect from high school.

Christian Clark’s Comeback from His Achilles Injury Is Set to Elevate Texas’ Backfield

The young running back arrived at Texas with plenty of promise. He was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class and was ranked as the No. 270 overall prospect by 247Sports. He chose Texas over powerhouse programs like Georgia, Florida State, Alabama, and Oregon, further evidence of coach Steve Sarkisian’s recruiting prowess.

Last summer, during a practice session, he tore his Achilles. The injury was a major blow for his career and the team, as they had already lost another key running back that same season, CJ Baxter, to a season-ending injury earlier that year, leaving the team thin at the running back position.

With no alternatives, the team was forced to rely heavily on Jaydon Blue, Tre Wisner, and Jerrick Gibson to carry the load last season. Although these aforementioned players stepped up greatly, the team’s lack of depth was a big issue.

So, what exactly will his return bring to the table? He was known as a high school standout at Mountain Pointe High School in Arizona for his versatility and playmaking ability. He has the speed to break away for long runs, the vision to find holes in the defense, and the hands to be a threat as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

His skill set could add a new dimension to the Texas offense that has already shown plenty of promise in recent seasons. Ultimately, his ability to break off big plays could give the team the sparks they need, especially in critical games down the stretch.
