Throughout the years, LSU’s Head Coach has become widely known for her wild stylistic choices on the sidelines. She constantly wears eye-catching and extravagant outfits when she coaches her games.

During her team’s loss to UCLA in the Elite Eight this season, Mulkey was pictured wearing an LSU-inspired getup, with a blazer adorned in the iconic purple that has become synonymous with the LSU Tigers.

During her historic run to the 2005 NCAA Championship finals, Mulkey made history by guiding Baylor to the first-ever Championship victory in their history, after defeating MSU in the final.

Throughout that game, the Baylor Head Coach was pictured in a slightly dimmed-down version of her usual extravagant outfits, donned in a classic Blue Blazer.

Kim Mulkey Tells Hilarious Story Behind Outfit Emergency

In a recent interview with Get Gordon, where the LSU Head Coach discussed multiple topics, including the transfer portal and NIL, the Tigers head coach revealed the hilarious story behind her 2005 finals outfit.

“So in 2005, we beat LSU in the semifinals,” the Head Coach began, an ironic twist considering the fact that she is currently coaching the Tigers over a decade later.

“I only had one outfit, so now I’m like, what are we going to do? So Jennifer, my assistant, just happened to have another outfit in her suitcase.” Mulkey continued.

The Jennifer in question that the Tigers’ Head Coach is referring to is assistant coach Jennifer Roberts, who has worked with Mulkey for years, both at Baylor and for the LSU Tigers.

“She had seen it on a mannequin in a store, that she said, what if we win?”

“She had the outfit, the outfit fit me, I had no shoes, no jewelry, so they all were in Indianapolis, all scattered to find shoes and jewelry to go with the outfit.”

“They know that I love good clothes, but I expect them to say, That looks like something Kim would wear.” The former Baylor Head Coach explained, breaking down the entire story behind her outfit.

“And they’re quick to ask for my credit card, though, don’t think they do it for free.” Mulkey hilariously concluded.

Almost 20 years on from that iconic moment, the LSU Tigers Head Coach now has all of her iconic outfits supplied by Queen of Sparkles, a fashion designer brand.

“Well, Queen of Sparkles takes care of me now, but this was back in the day, when we didn’t have anybody doing any of that.” the Head Coach explained, showcasing the difference in the NCAA world Mulkey is coaching in 2025, and the one in 2005.
