Fans Left in Disarray As Kevin Willard Signs Grand Canyon Transfer to Villanova

The roster rebuild at Villanova under new head coach Kevin Willard has had its fair share of ups and downs, but one consistent theme has been acquiring players with multiple seasons of eligibility remaining. The Wildcats appear eager to buck the national trend and build something sustainable.

After a slow start to the transfer portal this off-season, Willard and Villanova have picked up the pace and started adding quality and depth to the roster ahead of next season.

Fans furious as Villanova signs Malcolm Flaggs

Having already signed 7’1″ center Nico Onyekwere and Four-star high school guard Acaden Lewis earlier this week, Villanova also secured the commitment of 6’7, 210-pound Grand Canyon transfer Malcolm Flaggs, who averaged 0.8 points in 11 games last season.

“I chose Villanova because of the coaching staff and their ultimate belief in me,” he said. “I was injured 2 of the 3 years of my college career and got healthy. I started performing at a high level to the capacity of my high school days when I was a 3-star top 50 prospect in the state. They gave me an opportunity to prove myself.”

Flaggs recruitment doesn’t seem to be a popular decision with the fans as some of them questioned the logic behind the decision.

“Honestly, we hate it!!! WE NEED POWER FOWARDS & A LEGIT CENTER…… We got enough damn 1-3’s… Buddy didn’t do shit at grand canyon fucks he gonna do in the BIG EAST???” Wrote @PHILLY75SPORTS.

One other social media user made mockery of the signing, “His mission is to average 0.9 points in 12 games this year…love it or hate it,” @Tabler_Tim said.

Villanova has also signed Long Beach State transfer guard Devin Askew, Grand Canyon transfer forward Duke Brennan, James Madison transfer guard Bryce Lindsay, Temple transfer guard Zion Stanford, and Maryland transfers Braden Pierce and Malachi Palmer.
