Luca Virgilio, a native of Italy, built a strong background in basketball operations before joining the Nebraska men’s basketball program. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration from Roma Tre University in 2012, then completed a master’s in business administration at Tor Vergata School of Economics in 2014.
Virgilio spent five seasons at St. John’s in several roles. He began as a graduate assistant, helping with daily operations and team management, and later became the assistant to head coach Chris Mullin, handling schedules, travel, and player development. Previously, Virgilio served as the Huskers’ director of basketball strategies and business operations. His hard work and expertise led to a promotion to general manager, where he now oversees important areas of the program’s management and strategy.
As general manager, Virgilio will serve as the main link between the coaching staff, university administration, and the 1890 NIL collective. He will also continue managing key areas such as the program’s budget, scheduling, and team travel—duties he handled in his previous position.
