Jaguars Give Travis Hunter Electric Jennifer Hudson Show-Inspired Intro
The Jacksonville Jaguars did whatever it took to select Travis Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft. In making a blockbuster swap to snag him at No. 2 overall, the team’s decision-makers are putting their faith in the now-former two-way Colorado star and 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.

On the way to his introductory press conference last Friday, Hunter was given a grand entrance fitting of such an investment. Staffers lined up in a hallway—like “The Jennifer Hudson Show”—and sang and clapped as Hunter, an adept dancer, shimmied his way through.
Hunter will be the main attraction as the Jaguars forge into a new era. Jacksonville gave up a lot of draft capital to move up three spots to get him. Some wonder whether the Cleveland Browns made a mistake by allowing him to slip from their grasp.
“I’ve just got to go out there and prove them right,” Hunter said in one of his recent press appearances. “It’s definitely a lot of motivation. They sacrificed a lot to get me. That means they believe in me. That just validates that I need to go ahead and just do my job.”
Hunter is the sixth receiver the Jaguars have taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. He joins Brian Thomas Jr. (2024), Justin Blackmon (2012), Matt Jones (2005), Reggie Williams (2004), and R. Jay Soward (2000).
Other cornerbacks Jacksonville used first-round choices on include C.J. Henderson (2020), Jalen Ramsey (2016), and Fernando Bryant (1999).
“We know he’s going to be able to do both,” Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said of the new star.
“We feel that in our bones. We’re going to set that up that way from a schedule, from an operations standpoint, the way that we’re going to operate for him, to set him up to have the most success that he can, then help the Jacksonville Jaguars become the best version of themselves.”
Hunter plans on making the same sort of impact in the professional ranks as he did in college.
“I had to work to play both sides of the ball, even being with Coach Prime,” Hunter said. “You all just happened to see the perfect end, but I did a lot of work to get to where I’m at. So, I’m going to continue to put in the work, continue to grind, and I’m going to just continue to do what I do.”
