Head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are probably still in a state of euphoria, fresh off a national title game victory and an NCAA-leading 14 players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
But now it’s time to look forward to 2025. The Buckeyes are making their final roster adjustments as they prepare for a national title defense, and they are short 14 NFL talent-level players. Here’s everyone who’s in and out for Ohio State.

Who’s In for Ohio State from the Transfer Portal?
Beau Atkinson (UNC)
The talented edge rusher committed to the Buckeyes on April 23 with two years of eligibility remaining as the top available player in ESPN’s spring transfer portal rankings. Atkinson was a rotational player for the Tar Heels in 2023 before becoming a top pass rusher in the ACC in 2024. The former three-star recruit from Raleigh, North Carolina, led UNC with 7.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 25 pressures last year. He finished as the ACC’s sixth-leading sacker.
Atkinson fills a big hole for the Buckeyes, who lost four starters — J.T. Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer, Ty Hamilton, and Tyleik Williams- to the NFL this offseason. The unit, which finished second nationally with 53 sacks last fall, was a key piece in Ohio State’s run to the national championship.
Who’s Out at Ohio State in the Transfer Portal?
Reis Stocksdale
The Morrow, Ohio native and graduate student Morrow hasn’t seen the field much as a Buckeye, only hauling in one reception for 12 yards in four years at Ohio State. The two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten Conference honoree played in six games in 2022 but was kept off the field with an injury in 2023.

Anthony Venneri
Venneri averaged 43 and 43.6 yards per punt in 2022 and 2023 for the Buffalo Bulls, before joining the Buckeyes as an invited walk-on in June 2024. Venneri did not see the field at all with the Buckeyes, leaving the FWAA Freshman All-American with two years of eligibility remaining.
