Jack Bech Honors Late Brother with Engraved Fingerprints, Celebrating His Influence

The TCU Horned Frogs wide receiver was selected with the No. 58 pick in the second round by the Las Vegas Raiders. Bech knew he would hear his name called on draft night, but he made sure he wasn’t alone: he carried his late brother’s engraved fingerprints with him.

On the night of his selection, Bech paid tribute to his late brother, Tiger Bech, with cufflinks engraved with his fingerprints, honoring the legacy and influence his brother had on his life.

Tiger was among the 14 people killed in a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

At the time, Bech was working as a stockbroker in New York and was in New Orleans for the holidays. His mother, Michelle, told ABC News that her son was “on top of the world” at the time of his death and that he always lived life to the fullest.

Tiger was a receiver and kick returner at Princeton from 2017 to 2019, catching 53 passes for 825 yards and three touchdowns. His coach with the Tigers, Bob Surace, told ESPN that Tiger always wanted to mentor and give back to the program that shaped him.

“He was just starting a successful career in the business world,” Surace said. “There were two or three times we had career nights, and you could call him with a day’s notice, and he came down and shared his experiences as a young professional with our team.”

Since his brother’s death, Jack has worked hard to honor Tiger.

At the Senior Bowl, Bech wore No. 7—Tiger’s number at Princeton—and orange-and-black cleats featuring angel wings on one side and the Bible verse “And ye who stay on the path of righteousness shall reap what thine hath sown” on the other.

He also wore No. 7 and the special cleats at the NFL combine. In addition, he has a tattoo reading “7 to Heaven” on his left collarbone and his brother’s birth and death dates inked over his heart. He continues to draw inspiration from Tiger and told ESPN that his brother “will always be with me” in the NFL.

“Whatever team gets me, it’s going to be a two-for-one special,” he said. “Not only do you get Jack Bech, you get Tiger Bech, too. I have a superpower now. I have another presence about me that just can’t lose.”
