‘Comically Watching His Free Fall’ – Deion Sanders’ ‘Carpe Diem’ Backfires in the Face of Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft Carnage

Since Shedeur Sanders, the son of Deion Sanders, had a tough and competitive moment in the 2025 NFL Draft, the whole community took to criticizing his father. Generally, college football players have their own agents, but for Shedeur and his brother Shilo, their father Deion is their agent.

So, it was Deion who received the most heat on social media after the Colorado standout slipped to the fifth round, despite having enough promise to be picked in the first round. To make things worse, Deion’s “Carpe Diem” remark, which was intended to create a good ambiance, sparked more chaos on social media.

Deion Sanders’ Attempt To Stay Positive Collapses As Fans Tear Into His ‘Carpe Diem’ Message

Shedeur Sanders, once expected to be a top-five pick, experienced an unexpected drop to the fifth round during the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite his impressive college career at Colorado and his recognition as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, the way teams passed on him throughout the draft surprised everyone.

Fans and analysts were confused, with many speculating that his fall was due to his pre-draft interviews and the pressure of carrying his famous last name. Adding a bit of humor to the tension, his brother Shilo even joked about possibly finding a new agent instead of sticking with their father.

Then, on Saturday, the final day of the NFL Draft, Deion posted a “Carpe Diem” message, urging people to live in the moment.

“Everybody’s worried about what happened yesterday & fear the possibilities of what will happen tomorrow when we should be focused on NOW! What we do with our NOW is what matters the most. Let’s make the most of our NOW,” Deion said.

While the message was meant to inspire, the timing of the post, amidst Shedeur’s draft struggles, didn’t sit well with fans. Social media erupted with mixed reactions, as many felt the message was in no way connected with Shedeur’s current reality. Shilo probably didn’t expect that some fans would take his comments seriously, using them to criticize his father.

One fan commented, “If you could do it all over again, would you have just gotten an agent for your son and stayed out of the process?”

Another replied, “I’m not worried. You assume people are worried—that’s the problem.”

A user even brought up Shilo’s funny comment about changing agents, writing, “This is the way.”

But the most savage reply came from someone who said, “Worried? No, bro. We were comically watching his free fall.”

Another fan added, “I think everyone is more worried about you continuing to tank his career over your own ego.”

While Coach Prime is catching a lot of heat, the reaction shows just how deeply fans care about the future of the players they look up to.
