Penn State Secures Dynamic Receiver Trebor Peña in Transfer Portal

On Saturday, former Syracuse standout Trebor Peña announced that he would join the Nittany Lions’ 2025 roster. He shared his decision just before the kickoff of Penn State’s Blue-White Game at Beaver Stadium.

Peña had an outstanding 2024 season, recording 84 receptions for 941 yards and 9 touchdowns. This performance earned him Second-Team All-ACC honors. His remarkable college stats clearly show why Penn State was eager to add him to their roster.

The Nittany Lions’ wide receiver group had been hit hard by losses, with several key players leaving for the NFL Draft or transferring to other programs. With only Liam Clifford remaining as a key receiver, Penn State knew they needed a proven playmaker to complement their star quarterback, Drew Allar. This is where the New Jersey native steps in, bringing much-needed experience and talent to the team.

After announcing his new journey with the Nittany Lions, Trebor Peña received high praise from his former coach, Fran Brown. Speaking on Cuse Sports Talk, Brown said, “First of all, I love the kid. Trebor’s my guy. I recruited him, he came and played for me at Temple….he got better and had a really good year last year. Did an amazing job. As all the guys left, there’s a lot of pressure.”

Brown also mentioned that while Penn State was offering Peña a solid deal, there was the potential for him to make even more money at other schools. He added, “There was success at other places. I was just like, now I have to tell him he needs to go.”
