The 2025 NFL Draft is now well underway, with many college football players achieving their dream of reaching that next level as they are calling their college careers a day. For Cameron Skattebo, he saw his dreams come true as he got picked by the New York Giants.
In the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants selected the Arizona State running back. Tears filled his eyes as he saw his dream become reality and he took to X, formerly Twitter, to acknowledge this pick after his Day 3 selection.

Cameron Skattebo Already Dons New York Giants Jersey After Day 3 Selection
Skattebo wasted little time celebrating his pick as he shared a photo of himself donning a New York Giants jersey with a short five-word caption: “You know what it is !!” He’s obviously ecstatic to get the opportunity to play at the next level, and he’s wasting little time endearing himself to Giants fans.

The Skattebo pick made a lot of sense for the Giants on multiple fronts. We knew the Giants wanted to add to their running back room. They did a ton of work on mid-round running backs through the pre-draft process. Skattebo himself served as an ideal complement to what the Giants already have in the shifty Tyron Tracy Jr.
The 5-foot-10, 216-pound Skattebo is a bruising runner who also has a big receiving upside. Skattebo ranked at No. 112 on Dane Brugler’s top 300 big board. Here’s what Brugler had to say about him in his annual NFL Draft guide:
“A three-year starter at Ole Miss, Jaxson Dart thrived in offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr.’s spread RPO, heavy play-action scheme (No. 1 in passing EPA per dropback in 2024). After transferring out of USC once Caleb Williams arrived, he found a home with Kiffin and left Oxford with numerous single-season and career records, including the Rebels’ all-time lead in wins (28), passing yards (10,617) and total offense (12,117).”
With his physical tools and rhythm passing, he was an ideal fit in Kiffin’s quarterback-friendly offense, although the simplistic nature of the scheme leaves NFL scouts questioning his post-snap decision-making process when reads aren’t as structured and predetermined.
The other key concern is his tendency to prematurely drop his eyes once the pocket gets heated. However, his athleticism to buy time and scramble for positive yards is an asset.”
“Overall, Dart needs time to develop his progression-based reads and anticipation (things he wasn’t asked to regularly do in college), but he is a natural thrower of the football with promising mobility and high-level competitive intangibles. If allowed to develop at his own pace, he offers NFL starting upside in the right situation.”
Skattebo quickly became America’s favorite running back last year after leading ASU to the Big 12 Championship and even a College Football Playoff berth. He rushed for 1,711 yards, 21 touchdowns, and even caught 45 passes for 605 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
Skattebo’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal performance against Texas goes down as one of the greatest in college football history. Trailing by 16 points with 6:31 left, Skattebo threw a 42-yard touchdown pass. He later rushed for a touchdown and a two-point conversion to force overtime. He then scored again in overtime.
Skattebo ran 30 times that game for 143 yards and caught eight passes for 99 yards, and even threw a touchdown pass. He will fit very well on the Giants team. New York is still remodeling its running back room after letting Saquon Barkley walk in free agency last offseason.
Now there’s a clear youth movement in the room. Skattebo adds another offensive playmaker to a room that still needs some.
