‘Are They STUPID?’ – U.S. Pres. Donald Trump Explodes Over Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Snub

Former Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders remained a highly touted prospect heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. As a myriad of controversies followed him, he found himself in a shocking position when his name wasn’t called during Round 1.

Despite his elite skills, generational connection to sports, and fiery performances for Colorado, Sanders slipped out of the first round, leaving fans, analysts, and even prominent public figures like U.S. Pres. Donald Trump questioning the decision.

Donald Trump Slams NFL Teams for Passing on Shedeur Sanders

Among those expressing disbelief was none other than the President. In a passionate post on Truth Social, Trump wasted no time voicing frustration at NFL teams for overlooking Shedeur.

Not only did they question the NFL teams’ sensibilities, but they also made sure to mention how the Colorado quarterback had “phenomenal” talent with a legacy of greatness built by his father, NFL legend Deion Sanders.

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” the former President began, incredulously questioning the judgment of NFL team executives.

“Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES and is all set for greatness. He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN,” wrote the president.

Trump’s outrage highlights the gravity of what many see as a missed opportunity for the league. Analysts and fans haven’t held back on the topic as Sanders, who threw for over 4,100 yards and 37 touchdowns in a spectacular 2024 season, awaits longer than expected.

It is also a bitter pill to swallow as a performer who earned him Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors and an AP Second-Team All-American selection faces high uncertainty. His numerous records, including passing yards, completions, attempts, touchdowns, and quarterback rating at Colorado, have turned into mere numbers within a night.

Despite the disappointment of the draft night, Sanders, who didn’t attend the draft’s opening night in Green Bay, hosted a private celebration with friends and family, undeterred by the lack of recognition.

“I feel like with God, anything is possible,” Sanders said after the first round.

Sanders’ positive mindset despite the draft setback has only reinforced his standing as one of the top prospects left on the board. However, as the tone suggests, for the former President, this oversight speaks to a larger issue within the NFL.
