The 2025 NFL Draft is upon us, and so is your need to be prepared for all of tomorrow’s stars. Dive into our spotlight on Shemar Turner, featuring his scouting report, strengths and weaknesses, his recent draft projection, and where all the experts predict he could land.

Shemar Turner’s NFL Draft Scouting Report
Shemar Turner is a disruptive and versatile defensive lineman with the ability to excel at multiple positions across the front. He combines a quick first step with impressive strength, allowing him to penetrate gaps and create consistent backfield pressure.
Turner’s hand usage and lateral movement make him effective against both the run and pass, while his motor and physicality enable him to shed blocks and pursue plays with intensity. His agility and athleticism for his size are notable, giving him the flexibility to line up inside or on the edge.
Ultimately, Turner will project best as a 3-tech or 4i at 6’3″, 290 pounds, but he has the athleticism to rush from different alignments, and his 33″ arms serve as a great conduit for power. His aggression can contribute to a lack of discipline at times, but he’s a fiery disruptor with a great ceiling if coaches can temper his passion.
Shemar Turner’s NFL Draft Projection
In CSN’s 7-Round 2025 NFL Mock Draft from April 12, Turner landed in Round 3 with the 67th overall pick. James Fragoza has this to say:
The Browns are in dire need of talent in the 2025 NFL Draft, regardless of position, and Shemar Turner fits that bill perfectly. Not only does he bring undeniable talent to the defensive line, but his physical prowess addresses a key need for Cleveland.
And in CSN’s recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft for Day 2, Bjorn Bergstrom had this to say about Turner’s selection to the Los Angeles Chargers in Round 2 with the 55th pick:
With DT Poona Ford gone, coach John Harbaugh and the Chargers look to plug Turner right into that position. Turner had much better 2023 stats, wise, than 2024, notching six sacks versus only two. However, that comes with a caveat, as the Aggies deployed a rotational defensive line strategy that affected the stats of other highly-rated Texas A&M defenders.
Despite that, Turner has a quick first step and is a consistent disruptor in the backfield. His high motor will get him a couple of sacks a year alone, and with continued development, he could be a monster in the middle.
