Who Are Shavon Revel Jr. Parents? Inside the Life of the Star CB’s Family

Shavon Revel Jr., a standout cornerback and 2025 NFL Draft hopeful, credits much of his success to the steadfast encouragement of his parents. His journey began at Louisburg College in 2020, though COVID-19 delays kept him off the field until 2021, when he logged just six games.

He transferred to East Carolina University in December 2021 and earned second-team All-AAC honors in 2023. A torn ACL limited him to three games in 2024. Revel officially declared for the draft following the end of his college career.

Meet Shavon Revel Jr.’s Parents: The Backbone Behind the NFL Draft Prospect

Shavon Revel Jr.’s rise to becoming one of the top cornerback prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft is deeply rooted in the unwavering support of his parents, Keith Revel and Tomecka Rapley. His father, Keith, also known as Shavon Revel Sr., has been integral to his development, not only as a coach but also as a hands-on guide.

Keith coaches a Winston-Salem 7-on-7 football team and supports his son Shavon in his athletic career by working daytime shifts at Amazon and using the free time to drive Shavon to college prospect camps, including his crucial appearance at East Carolina University.

The East Carolina University prospect camp became the ultimate transformation point in Shavon’s athletic development.

Tomecka Rapley, Shavon’s mother, provided a stable and encouraging environment that helped shape his character. Much of Shavon’s childhood was spent at her mobile home in Winston-Salem, where he and his brothers would train, instilling a sense of perseverance and grit that has defined his playing style.

Tomecka emphasized accountability, a principle that continues to guide Shavon throughout his career.

The Revel family has faced numerous challenges, including a serious car accident during Shavon’s sophomore year in high school. Shavon suffered a fractured skull and underwent surgery after the crash, but his family’s resilience helped him recover and return to football.

Despite adversity, Shavon’s determination led him to a scholarship offer from ECU, contingent on improving his grades.

“That’s all I needed to hear,” Shavon said.

ESPN’s Jordan Reid ranks him as the No. 4 cornerback prospect for the 2025 draft.

“He’s a guy you set your schedule to,” an NFL personnel director told ESPN.
