Top Landing Spots from 2025 NFL Draft Day 1: Jaxson Dart to New York Giants Steals the Spotlight

While the NFL Draft is an excellent night for many of college football’s best athletes, where players end up can matter. If Patrick Mahomes hadn’t ended up with the Kansas City Chiefs, who knows how good he would’ve been?

While landing spot isn’t everything for these players, finding the right coaching staff and scheme can make a player’s transition to the NFL much easier. These five players fell into the best spot in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Best Prospect Landing Spots in the 2025 NFL Draft

TE Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears (Rd. 1, Pk. 10)

When Ben Johnson was with Detroit, the Lions selected Sam Laporta in the first round to become their franchise tight end.

In his first draft as the head coach for the Bears, Chicago selected Colston Loveland. I think the sky’s the limit for Loveland in Johnson’s scheme, and this fit is awesome for both sides.

IOL Tyler Booker, Dallas Cowboys (Rd. 1, Pk. 12)

While many thought the Cowboys’ picking Booker was a surprise, I think this pick makes perfect sense. The Cowboys lost Zack Martin to retirement this offseason and needed to replace him. Booker fits perfectly in Dallas’ scheme and should be a franchise cornerstone for years to come.

EDGE Mykel Williams, San Francisco 49ers (Rd. 1, Pk. 11)

The 49ers had next to no pass rushers besides Nick Bosa before the NFL Draft, and picking up Mykel Williams filled that need nicely. Not only was Williams a big need for San Fran, but I think he fits perfectly in Robert Saleh’s defensive scheme.

TE Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts (Rd. 1, Pk. 14)

There might not be a rookie who receives more targets in 2025 than Tyler Warren. The Indianapolis Colts needed to get Anthony Richardson a safety blanket underneath, and Warren is just that.

Not only will Warren help Richardson, but Warren will benefit greatly from being one of the top targets in the Colts’ offense.

QB Jaxson Dart, New York Giants (Rd. 1, Pk. 25)

If I could hand-pick one NFL coach to pair with Jaxson Dart, it would be Brian Daboll. Daboll has had success in the past with big-arm quarterbacks who have good mobility (e.g., Daniel Jones and Josh Allen). This pairing is great, and I think Dart will find some major success in New York.
