Meet Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter’s Family

Abdul Carter was born on Jan. 2, 2004, to Christopher Carter and Tina Carter in Philadelphia, Penn. He has four siblings: sisters Cheryl Carter and Cianie Carter, and brothers Isaiah Carter and Hakim Carter.

It was with his two parents and four siblings that he developed his trademark toughness that the nation has come to know today.

Not much is known about Carter’s parents’ personal lives, but his father taught him how to play both football and chess. Per his LinkedIn profile, Christopher Carter works as a professional limousine driver after graduating from Commonwealth University-Bloomberg.

It was with his father’s guidance that Carter grew into one of the top high school players in the nation, rated a four-star recruit according to 247 Sports. He was rated the 33rd-best linebacker in the 2022 recruiting class.

It’s safe to say he blew past that ranking, as he was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 for his hometown Penn State Nittany Lions. In addition to that award, he was also named the Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year — in other words, the best defensive player in all of college football.
