NFL Draft Rumors: Jaxson Dart a Top-10 Lock? CBS Report Points to Yes

Draft buzz is in the air. Just hours away from the 2025 NFL Draft, rumors and smoke screens are everywhere, including one about an unlikely prospect slipping into the top 10 picks.

Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart, the widely regarded number three quarterback in this year’s draft class, behind Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, seems to be a wild card, with rumors that he could shoot into the back end of the first round by a quarterback-needy team.

Is Jaxson Dart Headed for the Top 10? NFL Draft Buzz Picks Up Steam

CBS Sports reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala seems to think he could go even higher.

“I’m being told that Jaxson Dart is not going to fall beyond that No. 9 pick and the [New Orleans] Saints,” Kinkhabwala said. “Somebody could potentially go above the Saints to try to go get him, but that’s not what I’m hearing right now, that that is the pick that Kellen Moore likes.”

Last year’s draft was historically quarterback-heavy, with Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye all being selected in the first three picks. Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy rounded out the top ten, and Bo Nix was taken at number 12. Six quarterbacks were selected in the first round, the most since 1983.

Dart slipping into the first round would match 2023’s total for the position, with Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson all in the top four.

But his going that high would be rather surprising. FanDuel’s Austin Swaim has the Saints picking Dart, but waiting until the 29th pick to trade up and do so.

NFL.com scout Lance Zierlein has the Saints picking Dart in the first round, but waiting until the 30th pick to trade back into the first round. CBS Sports’ R.J. White has the Saints trading up to the 32nd pick for Dart.
