NFL Draft Shock Incoming: Ashton Jeanty Mocked Widely at No. 6, Picked by Jets Amid Breece Hall Trade Rumors

One of the best overall prospects in this year’s NFL Draft is none other than Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

While the Doak Walker Award winner could fit with a number of teams, a team from the Big Apple might have its eyes set on drafting him.

Jets Might Eye Running Back Ashton Jeanty Amid Breece Hall Trade Chatter

That team that might be interested in drafting him is none other than the New York Jets. This could be the case now that there are potential trade rumors swirling around star running back Breece Hall. According to insider Josina Anderson, league sources have heard that Hall could be available for a trade.

If the Jets were looking to find a suitable replacement for Hall, Jeanty would be a pretty good option.

The Heisman finalist set the college football world on fire during his final years out on the blue turf.

Ashton Jeanty Is a Superstar in the Making

Two seasons ago, Jeanty had a fantastic 2023. He rushed for over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns before essentially doubling those numbers last season. His 2024 season saw him rush for a whopping 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns while putting the Broncos back on the map.

He has the chance to be a real game-changer at the next level, especially considering he can catch passes out of the backfield (43 receptions for 569 yards and five touchdowns in 2023). It would be stunning to see the Jets part with another star player on offense this season after doing it with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Hall has eclipsed over 1,300 scrimmage yards in each of his last two seasons, and he is still only 23 years old. It makes no sense for the Jets to get rid of him unless they want to start fresh with another rebuild.

But again, Jeanty would be the perfect person to take over for Hall because of his abilities as an all-purpose machine.

If he ends up sliding down to pick No. 7, where the Jets sit, perhaps head coach Aaron Glenn and Co. might decide to make that pick.
