QB Jalen Milroe could have returned to the Alabama Crimson Tide this season, but chose to declare for the NFL Draft. With the draft beginning today, Thursday, April 24, 2025, and continuing through Saturday, April 26, 2025, Milroe remains one of the most intriguing players on the board.
The QB is considered a prototypical second-round pick whose draft stock has steadily risen in recent weeks. However, there are still questions about whether his college skills will translate into NFL success.

Nick Saban Believes Jalen Milroe Brings a One-of-a-Kind Threat to the NFL
In a recent interview, Nick Saban (now an ESPN analyst) and Kirk Herbstreit discussed Milroe’s two years as the Crimson’s starting QB. The former Alabama head coach shared insights into how Milroe could benefit the NFL team that takes a chance on him in the draft.
“I think the number one thing with Jalen Milroe is this guy adds an element to your offense that nobody else has in this draft.”

“I think the number one thing with Jalen Milroe is this guy adds an element to your offense that nobody else has in this draft,” Saban said.
“This guy is a tremendous athlete. I love the guy as a competitor. He can make all the throws. He is a very good deep-ball thrower because he has a very strong arm. He made a significant amount of explosive plays. … And this is the fastest guy on the team, and one of the most physical guys.”
Nick Saban emphasized that consistency as a passer will be key for Milroe to thrive in the NFL. Reflecting on their weekly meetings during Milroe’s junior year, Saban urged him to focus on eliminating negative plays.
“You make so many good plays, you eliminate those bad plays, you’re going to play at a high level for somebody.”
Milroe became Alabama’s starting QB in 2023, taking over from Bryce Young, and returned for the 2024 season after Saban’s retirement announcement. In 2024, he threw for 2,844 yards and 16 touchdowns while adding 726 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.
Over his two years at the Crimson Tide, he totaled 5,678 passing yards, 39 touchdowns through the air, 1,257 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on the ground.
QB Milroe recently accepted an invitation to the NFL Draft in Green Bay, showing that the NFL is higher on him than most experts predicted prior.

While Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are considered the top two quarterbacks in this class, the battle for the No. 3 spot remains fiercely contested. Ole Miss Rebels’ Jaxson Dart has some momentum for it, but Milroe is right in the thick of it, too.
