Tracing Tyler Booker’s Roots: A Look at the Family That Shaped Alabama’s Star Lineman

Tyler Booker’s parents are William and Tashona Booker. And they have been his backbone since day 1. He also has two siblings. And an older sister named Jailen, and a younger brother, Mason. This family has always been knee-deep in football.

In fact, when baby Tyler came home from the hospital, his dad had already placed a football in his bassinet. “I knew because of my love for the game that he was going to be a football player,” William Booker recalled in a recent interview with CT Insider. And from that moment on, football was a family affair in the Booker household.

And by the time Tyler had turned five, he was already making bold statements, saying he was going to play in the NFL. “Literally from birth, I knew this was what I wanted to do,” he told CT Insider. William and Tashona heard that, and instead of brushing it off as a childhood fantasy, they leaned in.

William even took responsibility for early workouts, which included stairs, laps, and truck tire flips at Hamden High. By nine, Tyler had a trainer and was attending camps at places like Michigan State and, yes, Alabama. When it comes to the Booker family, it was not just about the hard work but also about the belief.

Tyler’s first big break came with the New Haven Steelers, where at just nine years old, he was great at both sides of the ball. And his dad saw potential in that moment. That faith in potential took him to St. Luke’s School, where he played two grades up. Later, at IMG Academy, that belief turned into national attention.

And while his dad was the drill sergeant, his mom was the glue. Tashona was always there with unconditional support. Tyler remembers the moments when he didn’t feel like training, and his dad would ask, “Are you sure you don’t want a break?” Every time, Tyler would reply, “I want to do whatever it takes.” Now that is NFL-bound spirit.

To add on, it also did not hurt that football ran in the family. Tyler’s uncle, Ulish Booker, won a Super Bowl ring with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Every trip to Grandma’s meant staring at those shiny Michigan State and Steelers helmets. Now, as Tyler Booker’s Alabama journey comes to an end, will his childhood dreams finally become a reality?

And Tyler Booker is not forgetting where he came from, in the process. Booker regularly returns to New Haven to run youth football camps, aiming to be the example he once looked up to. He’s walked the same streets, felt the same hunger and now, he wants to show the next kid that dreams do come true.

As a team captain, his handprints and cleat prints are now cast in concrete outside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Now, it’s only a matter of which team picks him.
