The 2025 NFL Draft is upon us, and so is your need to be prepared for all of tomorrow’s stars. Dive into our spotlight on Will Johnson, featuring his scouting report, strengths and weaknesses, his recent draft projection, and where all the experts predict he could land.

Will Johnson’s NFL Draft Scouting Report
Will Johnson is an intelligent cornerback with all the physical tools needed to thrive at the NFL level. He’s tall and lean, and moves with impressive pace and fluidity in coverage. The physical tools are obvious, but the playmaking mentality and route recognition make him a top-12 prospect.
He gets the most out of his tools because of his swift processing speed and aggression in coverage.
That proactivity jumping routes can come back to bite him sometimes, but more often than not, it helps Johnson make plays other cornerbacks simply can’t, and that same proactivity shows up in run support.
With his size, athleticism, mental game, and turnover-generating chops, he’s a difference-maker on the boundary with legitimate CB1 potential in the NFL.
Will Johnson’s NFL Draft Projection
In CSN’s 7-Round 2025 NFL Mock Draft from April 12, Johnson landed in Round 1 with the ninth overall pick to the New Orleans Saints. James Fragoza has this to say:
If Will Johnson passes his medical exam, he deserves a top-10 pick. He has the ideal size (6’2″, 194 pounds) and athletic frame to shut down most outside receivers—plus, his instincts and football IQ only add to his appeal.
In Max Dorsey’s 3-Round 2025 NFL Draft on CSN, Johnson was predicted to land at No. 11 to the San Francisco 49ers:
The 49ers have holes all over their roster, as they lost some key defensive players in free agency. While they could go several directions here at 11, I think they should take the best player available, Will Johnson.
Will Johnson has fallen down draft boards this offseason for reasons I can’t comprehend. He’s got a prototypical NFL cornerback frame with great length. He’s a good athlete and has the athleticism and fluidity to be sticky in man and the IQ and ball skills to be dominant in zone. He’s a can’t-miss prospect, and I don’t see the 49ers passing him up.
