Will Johnson NFL Draft Projections: 5 Landing Spots for the 9-Career INT Michigan CB

Will Johnson is one of the best cornerbacks in the draft. The former Michigan Wolverine has a prototypical NFL cornerback frame, the play speed and fluidity to be sticky in man, and the ball skills and IQ to be elite in zone.

Whoever gets Johnson will be getting a true lockdown boundary cornerback, but which NFL teams make the most sense for Johnson to land with?

    San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are the most likely spot for Johnson to come off the board. The Niners need a cornerback after losing Charvarius Ward in free agency, and Johnson would fit defensive coordinator Robert Saleh’s scheme and philosophy well. This would be a great pairing for both sides.

    Carolina Panthers

While I don’t think the Panthers will take Johnson at number one overall, I do like the fit and believe Johnson and Jaycee Horn would form one of the best young cornerback duos in the league.

    Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are picking at 15, and if Johnson falls that far, I think Atlanta would likely select him. The Falcons’ secondary was bad last season, allowing over 4,000 yards through the air, and getting another corner alongside A.J. Terrell would pay dividends for their defense.

    Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals need more help in the secondary than any other NFL team. Getting a pro-ready corner like Johnson to come in and immediately be their number one guy would be an absolute game changer for the Bengals, and I like this fit a lot.

    Miami Dolphins

With the Jalen Ramsey trade rumors, there is a real chance that the Dolphins will be in the market for a cornerback in this year’s draft. I think it’s likely that if Johnson isn’t picked at 11, the Dolphins would seriously consider drafting him at 13.
