Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Tyler Van Dyke entered the transfer portal after tearing his ACL early in his fifth season of eligibility. Van Dyke spent four seasons with the Miami Hurricanes before transferring to Phil Longo’s Air Raid offense at Wisconsin. Now, after the injury and Longo’s firing, he’s in the portal with one year of eligibility remaining.
Which teams could be interested? Here are five potential transfer portal landing spots for Van Dyke.
Where Could Tyler Van Dyke Transfer?
Van Dyke has had moderate success in his previous stops, throwing for nearly 8,000 yards in his career. He’s struggled with interceptions and has just a 55-to-23 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

He can be a gunslinger and has a nice arm, at one point getting first-round buzz for the NFL Draft. However, he’s been far too inconsistent and will look to show he can put it all together in his final season of college eligibility.
Here are five potential landing spots for the fifth-year quarterback.
Duke Blue Devils
The Duke Blue Devils lost last year’s starter, Maalik Murphy, to the transfer portal, but head coach Manny Diaz could look for a reunion with another of his former Miami (FL) quarterbacks. There hasn’t been any clear intel here, but he’s familiar with Diaz and could use that as a potential starting point as he begins to take visits and explore his options
Tulane Green Wave
The Tulane Green Wave has the pull of a Power Four program despite its listing in the Group of Five. Head coach Jon Sumrall had a successful first season at the helm, but the Green Wave also lost quarterback Darian Mensah to the transfer portal.
Because of this, Tulane is an attractive landing spot for quarterbacks in that second tier who might not be able to name themselves the starter at their favorite school. For a guy like Van Dyke, Tulane would be a wise place to put together a successful super-senior season.
Maryland Terrapins
According to a source close to College Football Network, the Maryland Terrapins will be active in the transfer quarterback market and could be an attractive destination. Offensive coordinator Josh Gattis was in charge at Miami (FL) during Van Dyke’s stellar redshirt freshman season, so there’s familiarity and past success.
If Van Dyke were to reunite with Gattis and thrive again, he’d boost his draft stock tremendously.
Texas State Bobcats
While the Texas State Bobcats are not at the level of some of these other schools, G.J. Kinne’s history of success with quarterbacks could be appealing to Van Dyke. Again, Van Dyke has the arm talent to play at the next level; he just hasn’t put it all together.

Could a move to the Group of Five improve Van Dyke’s draft stock? If he’s in the correct situation, a move here could prove beneficial, even if it doesn’t look as exciting on the surface.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will likely be in the market for a starting quarterback this offseason but won’t be as competitive as other schools for the top crop of signal-callers. However, I like Van Dyke’s fit with the ACC team and think he could thrive in their slow mesh system.
I’ve heard from several sources that most quarterback movement this year will be lateral rather than vertical. Moving from Wisconsin to Wake Forest isn’t an upward or downward movement, but a change of scenery could help the senior quarterback.
