5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Cal TE Jack Endries: Is Texas the Leader?

Jack Endries nestled into Cal fans’ hearts after showing his potential with two solid seasons at the tight end position, racking up over 600 yards on 56 receptions, both the most on the Golden Bears, and adding two touchdowns. Where could Cal TE Jack Endries transfer?

After putting his name in the transfer portal Wednesday, Endries set up a visit to Texas, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Recently ranked the second-best returning tight end in the nation, behind Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers, by PFF, Endries is sure to have plenty of eyes on him. While the Longhorns should be the pack’s leaders, having a bucketload of NIL money and first dibs, Endries had plenty of eyes on him out of high school that will surely be looking his way again.

    Texas

Everything is bigger in Texas, especially the NIL budgets. Head coach Steve SarkSarkisian’sghorns just lost tight end Amari Niblack to cross-town rival Texas A&M, and top tight end Gunnar Helm is slated to be picked towards the end of day two or the start of day three in the 2025 NFL Draft, leaving big shoes to fill for a top contender.

    Penn State

The Nittany Lions have perhaps the biggest tight end hole in college football to fill with the loss of Tyler Warren to the NFL and redshirt sophomore Jerry Cross headed to Memphis. While Khalil Dinkins and Luke Reynolds could attempt to combine and fill that hole, the addition of Endries could be a massive leap in the right direction and a big help for quarterback Drew Allar.

    Michigan

The Wolverines are another team with a massive gap to fill at the tight end position, with the loss of the talented Colston Loveland to the draft. Endries’ abilities could be huge for a team that desperately uses more talent for incoming freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood to throw to.

    Oregon

Head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks are slated to redshirt freshman tight end Jamari Johnson from the portal to help replace the loss of their all-time leader in receptions among tight ends, Terrance Ferguson, to the draft, but could look towards Endries — a west-coaster — to level up the position even more.

    Miami

The Hurricanes have scooped up a pair of tight ends in the portal—UAB’s JackUAB’sel and Tulane’s ATulane’san—but neither has the receiving ability Endries brings.
