5-Star QB Flip Incoming? Mike Norvell’s FSU Surges in Keisean Henderson Recruitment

Florida State has its sights high in the hunt for a 2026 quarterback. Head coach Mike Norvell and his staff extended an offer to five-star phenom Keisean Henderson back in January.

At the time, Henderson was firmly committed to Houston. But now? There’s hope; he’s scheduled a visit to Tallahassee. Could the Seminoles be gaining ground in this high-stakes recruiting battle?

Mike Norvell’s FSU Enter Mix for 5-Star QB Keisean Henderson

FSU’s QB room wasn’t great last season, and the Seminoles are working hard to change that. Flipping four-star Kevin Sperry from the Oklahoma Sooners was a big win, but they aren’t done yet.

Henderson is now on their radar and will visit Tallahassee from June 9–11. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Florida State might be in the driver’s seat to flip him from Houston.

“Florida State’s the program that, right now, I’m probably watching the most—is one that, if you’re talking about Keisean Henderson flipping, I think that the Seminoles is a program that has created some intrigue with him,” said Wiltfong.

Just how high is Henderson’s ceiling? According to On3’s industry ranking, he’s the No. 16 overall player in the 2026 class, the No. 4 QB in the nation, and the No. 2 player in the talent-rich state of Texas.

Henderson began his high school career as a wide receiver. As a freshman, he hauled 74 catches for 1,135 yards and 14 touchdowns. He then transitioned to quarterback and quickly became one of the most coveted signal-callers in the country, getting over 30 scholarship offers.

In his junior season, Henderson completed nearly 66% of his passes, throwing 2,689 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding another 341 yards and seven scores on the ground. He’s proven to be a quarterback with true next-level potential.

So, could Florida State pull him away from his hometown Houston Cougars? It won’t be easy, but Norvell has a record of pulling off big-time flips.

In 2025, FSU has already flipped Sperry from Oklahoma. In 2023, it was Brock Glenn from the Ohio State Buckeyes. Henderson is a cut above both, but if anyone’s shown they can win these recruiting battles, it’s Norvell and his staff.
