The spring transfer portal window is as high-flying as ever, especially since now-former Colorado State WR Justus Ross-Simmons entered. With a slew of talented players entering the portal on the morning of Tuesday, April 16, Ross-Simmons’ name flew up the transfer portal rankings because of the immense talent he’s shown with the Rams.
You better believe that any team needing an alpha receiver hit the phones to contact Ross-Simmons.
Landing Spots for Justus Ross-Simmons
Ross-Simmons, originally from Rochester, New York, transferred to Inglewood High School in California and was a lightly recruited athlete in the class of 2021. However, his recruitment in the transfer portal this spring should see that change.

He torched defenses in consecutive seasons with the Rams, putting up 1,148 receiving yards and six touchdowns over the past two years combined. His height and frame make him a true No. 1 option for an offense that needs an outside threat.
Syracuse Orange
The first school that comes to mind to be able to lure Ross-Simmons away is Syracuse. The Orange, under the new leadership of Fran Brown, have had an incredible offseason bringing in new talent and fresh faces to improve their standing in the ACC.
Brown has been no stranger to the portal and has proven to be able to land big-time talent. The fact that Rochester is just an hour away via I-90 is a massive plus if he would like to return to his hometown roots.
USC Trojans
The Trojans have the allure of the Big Ten and the big city of Los Angeles if Ross-Simmons wants to change his lifestyle from Fort Collins. They also have a potential big-time quarterback in Miller Moss and a need for top-tier receivers on the outside, given their recent losses to the NFL Draft.
Ross-Simmons and Zachariah Branch would make for an incredible 1-2 punch in addition to the rest of their skilled talent on offense.
UCLA Bruins
Head coach DeShaun Foster is starting to instill his brand of offense on Chip Kelly’s former team but the roster still has some holes following last season. One of those is at wide receiver and Ross-Simmons’ frame and height would make him an ideal get for the Bruins offensively.
Like USC, the Bruins have the allure of Big Ten football in their pocket, but unlike their crosstown rivals, they have a bigger area of need at receiver. At this stage of Ross-Simmons’ career, he’s certainly going to be looking to play immediately, and that might behoove UCLA.
UNLV Rebels
Ross-Simmons in offensive coordinator Brennan Marion’s high-flying, go-go offense is a match made in football heaven. Marion got an up-close and personal look at Ross-Simmons during his time in the Mountain West, and with the Rebels’ recent upward trajectory, they could be a viable option if he wanted to stay within the MWC.

Questions at quarterback are the only thing that need be answered for Ross-Simmons to have UNLV near the top of his list likely, but next to Ricky White, Ross-Simmons and Co. could do some serious damage.
San Diego State Aztecs
Sean Lewis has started to accumulate his players on the San Diego State roster already. But he’s missing a player like Ross-Simmons on the offense. A true lid-lifting receiver from the outside is a staple of Lewis’ offense and considering Ross-Simmons could be compared to former Lewis standout Devontez Walker at Kent State, the bar could be set high for the Aztecs being the team to beat for his services.
Ross-Simmons plays a faster game at times and has the skill set to make any quarterback look good. That’s something SDSU needs right now.
