A top recruit was extremely impressed after a visit to the Alabama Crimson Tide’s first day of spring practice Monday. Four-star cornerback prospect Elbert Hill praised the team and head coach Kalen DeBoer as practice heated up in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Alabama “Feels Like Home” for Elbert Hill
According to On3 rankings, Elbert Hill is a four-star cornerback, making him an “elite” prospect for the 2026 class. He currently plays his preps football at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, and stands at 5’10”, 170 pounds.
The defensive back is the top-ranked cornerback and player coming out of Ohio, according to 247 Sports’ recruit rankings, where he is also the 29th best player nationally.
With offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Oregon on top of the Crimson Tide, Hill is a hot prospect among college football’s elite teams. But Alabama’s spring practice may have tipped him toward the SEC powerhouse.

“This experience was amazing,” Hill said of his experience. “They made it feel like home.”
Hill also tweeted a picture with DeBoer.
“Had an amazing time today, thanks for having me,” Hill wrote, thanking Alabama defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist, DeBoer, and the Crimson Tide program.
Hill’s father said he and his son also met with Alabama general manager Courtney Morgan.
“It was just a whole presentation and vision that I haven’t seen any other school do yet,” Elbert Hill said. “It really ‘wowed’ me.”
Hill, currently favored to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes at 80.3%, has only a 2.2% projection of heading to Alabama, according to On3’s projections. But DeBoer’s team is hoping this week’s meet up helps tip the scale in their favor.

With Utah transfer cornerback Cameron Calhoun and linebacker Justin Hill both already donning the crimson and white next season, perhaps they can steal yet another star from the hands of Ryan Day’s Buckeyes.
