3X Pro Bowl WR Calls Out Disrespect Toward Shedeur Sanders’ Advice from Athletes of Color

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant recently called out the disrespect towards Shedeur Sanders’ advice from athletes of color. The three-time Pro Bowl selection weighed in on the discussion of Sanders’ big slide in the 2025 NFL Draft. Sanders, who at one point was predicted to go in the first round, didn’t hear his name until the fifth.

Bryant’s comments came after Tom Brady and former NFL MVP Cam Newton offered some critical assessments of Sanders’ approach to the game. This included Sanders’ play on the field and his public persona off the field.

3x Pro Bowl WR Exposes Truth Behind Criticism of Black Athletes Offering Advice to Shedeur Sanders

The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver called out the hypocrisy in the backlash Sanders faced, especially when receiving advice from fellow African-American athletes. Ultimately, Bryant was urging a change in the narrative.

On Monday, Bryant shared a viral clip on social media. The clip featured Brady’s advice to Sanders about prioritizing film study over buying luxurious items like cars. The clip has already gone viral, picking up 5.9 million views.

“But when Cam Newton and other black athletes offers advice we gotta be hating … this happens often with us black people and that’s what I don’t fuck with … black people hate each other.. again this has nothing to do with a white person … let’s start talking about these hard a** truth.”

The controversy derives from the viral Brady clip in which Brady told Sanders: “get his a** in the film room and spend as much time in there as possible and less time in the car,” after discussing Sanders’ Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

The clip gained renewed attention following Sanders’ slide to the fifth round. Similarly, Newton gave some advice to Sanders on his podcast, which Bryant also critiqued.

“Shedeur, like, first off, I gotta hold him accountable, right?” Newton said on his podcast, via Athlon Sports. “Travis Hunter is what we would think Shedeur is supposed to be. Travis Hunter is polished like a quarterback. Shedeur has always had this mean mug look on his face. Snobbish-looking, you know what I’m saying? I’ve met Shedeur multiple times, and I’m looking at him and I’m like, ‘Okay.'”

The draft-day slide proved costly for Sanders, approximately $40 million. As the 144th pick, Sanders will earn about $4.6 million instead of the first pick, which earns approximately $48.8 million.

Sanders has a chance to compete for the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback position ahead of the 2025 NFL season against Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
