The Heisman Trophy. The greatest accomplishment that anyone can get in college football. This year, the race seems to have opened up. Fernando Mendoza’s big win over Ohio State seems to have solidified him as the clear frontrunner. But with the trophy’s history, the Heisman could honestly go to anyone this year. Let’s take a look at the four finalists this year.

Heisman Trophy Finalists 2025 Stats Comparison
Fernando Mendoza Stats
Mendoza has thrown for 2980 yards through the air. He pairs that up with 33 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season. He also has a 71.5% completion on his throws. Not to mention, he leads the number one team in the nation in Indiana. The Hoosiers are perfect for the first time in a long time, and Mendoza could be the first Indiana player to win the Heisman ever.
Julian Sayin Stats
Sayings stats are pretty similar to Mendoza’s. He has 3323 yards through the air. He pairs that up with 31 touchdowns and six interceptions. Lastly, his completion percentage sits at 78.4%. Sayin was about even with Mendoza till the Big 10 championship game. It’s going to be tough for Sayin to get back in the mix, as his only loss and blemish is to Mendoza.
Jeremiyah Love Stats
Love’s stats look a little different from his counterparts as he is a running back. This year, he ran for 1372 yards on the ground for the Irish. He also added 18 touchdowns for the Irish with 0 fumbles this year. He also tacks on 280 yards receiving this year, with 3 more touchdowns in that category. Love should be getting more looks, but with Notre Dame out of the playoff, his relevancy has fallen a bit.
Diego Pavia Stats
Pavia is a little bit of a dark house, but he backs it up statistically. He has thrown for 3192 yards through the air this year. He also adds 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Pavia also had a 71.2 completion percentage in the 2025 season. For Pavia to win, the media will have to play a big role. Fortunately for all Pavia fans, he is very popular in that department.
Bottom Line
The bigger picture here is that these four players had a fantastic season this year. Every single one of the finalists should hang their hats on that. For the fans, it will be a great way to head into the postseason. The winner will be announced at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN in New York City.
