The 2025 college football season unofficially starts with media days and for several teams, the stakes are higher to land a championship already. Several conferences will have new members in them as part of the realignment and all will strive to get a place in the 12-team College Football Playoff, which has been slightly altered to remove first-round bias towards conference champions. ESPN will be providing coast-to-coast coverage.
As such, there will be several questions when conference members, head coaches and star players sit before the media. Let’s take a look at some key questions for every Power Four conference.
SEC (July 14–17 in Atlanta)
The SEC Media Days will take place from July 14 to July 17 at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Key Questions:
- Can Georgia reclaim the national title after last year’s playoff stumble?
- Is this the year Texas or Oklahoma crash the SEC elite party?
- What pressure will Alabama face in its first full post-Saban season under Kalen DeBoer?
- How will Commissioner Greg Sankey address evolving CFP scheduling and NIL regulations?
Big Ten (Las Vegas, July 22–24)
Big Ten Media Days will take place from July 22–24 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Key Questions:
- How will newcomers USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington impact the title race?
- Can Michigan sustain dominance after Jim Harbaugh’s exit?
- What does Ryan Day need to prove to silence Ohio State critics?
- Is this expanded conference sustainable logistically long-term?
Big 12 (July 8–9 in Frisco, Texas)
The Big 12 members will get behind the mic to answer queries, with the Media Days scheduled from July 8-9 at the Ford Center at The Star, Frisco, Texas.
Key Questions:
- Who will emerge as the new face of the conference post–Texas/Oklahoma exit?
- Is Utah the early favorite—or will Kansas State, Oklahoma State, or Arizona step up?
- What tone will Commissioner Brett Yormark set in his state-of-the-league address?
- Can the Big 12 establish itself as a College Football Playoff contender?
ACC (July 22–24 in Charlotte)
ACC Media Days will be held from July 22–24 at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Key Questions:
- Can Florida State, North Carolina, or Miami take command of the conference title race?
- How are coaches and players reacting to off-field drama—lawsuits, revenue gaps, and legal settlements?
- What will Commissioner Jim Phillips say about long-term conference security?
- Will the 17-team league find internal balance—or fracture under its complexity?
The Media Days are very telling. It’s a medium through which one can understand the mindset of the coach through his tone and the way he carries himself. There will be several hot topics to be discussed, like NIL, the transfer portal and CFP expansion.
