2024 Big 12 Betting Odds: Utah Favored, Colorado Most Bet To Win

Despite it being its first season in the league, Utah is the favorite to take home a conference crown, according to the latest Big 12 betting odds.

The fact that the current betting favorites to win the Big 12 were members of the Pac-12 this time last year might tell you all you need to know ahead of the 2024 college football season.

According to the latest Big 12 betting odds, seven schools are 11-1 or shorter to win the conference. For context, that is more than the number of schools at 11-1 or shorter in the ACC (6), SEC (5) or Big Ten (4). Seven also represents the number of different schools to play in the past four Big 12 championship games.

Many would consider the Big 12 makeover from 2023 to 2024 to resemble the revolving door at the tallest building in your nearest city.

The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners said goodbye to the conference as they both left for the SEC. In their place came the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Utah Utes and the team on the tip of everyone’s mouth the past year, Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes.

According to the latest Big 12 betting odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, Utah is the favorite to win its new league at +320, just ahead of Kansas State (+380), the most recent Big 12 champion (2022) to remain in the conference.

Shortest Odds To Win Big 12 This Season

    1) Utah +320

    2) Kansas State +380

    3) Oklahoma State +750

    4) UCF +950

    5) Kansas +950

    6) Iowa State +950

    7) Arizona +1100

    8) Texas Tech +1400

Utah (60-1) and Kansas State (70-1) are the only Big 12 schools among the top 20 in terms of the shortest odds to win the national championship, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Coming off of an 8-5 season, the Utes should be a formidable league championship contender if healthy — which they weren’t in 2023 after injuries to quarterback Cameron Rising, tight end Brant Kuithe, running back Micah Bernard, and wide receiver Mycah Pittman caused each to miss significant time. Rising and Kuithe missed the entire 2023 season.

The preseason Big betting odds have never been shorter for Kansas State, largely thanks to the departures of Texas and Oklahoma. However, the Wildcats have 27 wins over the past three seasons, which many doubted would happen after Chris Klieman went a combined 12-11 in his first two seasons at the helm.

The Wildcats might hold one of college football’s best chess pieces in the form of Dylan Edwards, a former four-star recruit who comes to the Little Apple by way of Colorado. He gained over 700 all-purpose yards but was ignored within the Buffaloes offense at times.

Speaking of Colorado, they are not one of the seven schools at 11-1 or shorter to win the conference, according to the latest Big 12 betting odds. In fact, there are not one, but two handfuls of teams with shorter odds than them to win the league championship at +3000. Yet, 30% of the bets made to win the Big 12 are on Colorado, the most of any team in the conference.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter were among the players from Colorado to receive individual honors in CFN’s Preseason All-American Team, but the team won only four games last season before conference realignment provided them with an even more demanding schedule.
