NFL wide receiver and Kansas City Chiefs star Xavier Worthy was arrested on March 7 on alleged assault charges. The former Texas Longhorn allegedly was involved in an altercation with a “family and or household member,” which led to his arrest in Texas.
As of right now, Worthy is still behind bars, and there isn’t too much information available about the details of his arrest. Worthy’s arrest comes just after his former head coach, Steve Sarkisian, praised him.
Xavier Worthy Arrested Days After Steve Sarkisian Praised Him
While Worthy is a hot topic in the sports world today, his name was also said a lot last weekend at the NFL Combine.
Worthy currently holds the 40-yard dash record at the NFL Combine, and with 14 Longhorns attending the event this year, Sarkisian gave Worthy his flowers.
“I think Isaiah [Bond] and Jaydon [Blue] — think they have a shot — that’s a pretty good time,” Sarkisian said. “Greatest of all time. That’s a tough one.”
Worthy was instrumental to the Longhorns during his career there, and his top-tier speed is why the Chiefs took him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Worthy balled out with the Chiefs this past season and was one of the league’s best rookies, which put him in the national spotlight quite a bit.
The alleged assault now damages his reputation, as many young fans look up to Worthy and want to play like him. It’s important to remember that these charges are all alleged, and there’s been no statement from Worthy, his agent, or the NFL, nor have there been many updates since his arrest.
