Iowa Hawkeyes guard Lucy Olsen is currently preparing for the WNBA Draft after a successful season with the Hawkeyes, during which she was named to the First-Team All-Big Ten Team. Is Lucy Olsen related to Olivia Olson?

Olivia Olson, born in Los Angeles, California, is most famous for her roles in series such as “Adventure Time,” “Love Actually,” “Red Nose Day Actually,” and many more.

In comparison, the Iowa guard was born in Pennsylvania, and despite sharing a similar-sounding last name, the spelling is different, so there is no connection between the two.

    So why the confusion?

Lucy Olsen actually does have an older sister named Olivia Olsen. However, she’s not the one most people would think of when they hear the name Olivia Olson. While she may not be as famous as the actress, she has played a huge role in Lucy Olsen’s career.

It was the older Olivia Olsen’s love of basketball that actually kickstarted the Iowa guard’s career, who’s potentially headed for the WNBA. Lucy Olsen noted that she first fell in love with basketball when attending her older sister’s games.

“I would go to her [Olivia’s] games and be on the sidelines dribbling and stuff, and I would just want to play, so I would practice with her team,” Olsen said.

Lucy Olsen also has a younger sister, Lila, whom she is close with, according to Instagram posts made by the younger sister at Christmas, in which their bond is shown.

Following a successful season at Iowa, where Olsen did a fantastic job trying to fill the shoes of WNBA star Caitlin Clark, who left for the WNBA last season, Olsen is preparing to make the step up to the big league herself.
