As previously mentioned, the Iowa Hawkeyes fell in an overtime thriller to the eighth-ranked Ohio State Monday night.
Olsen led the Hawkeyes with 27 points, two rebounds, and seven assists, but her efforts fell short of victory.
Despite the disappointment, Olsen remained optimistic about her team, saying that the game showed her that the Hawkeyes were capable of playing against tough teams.
“They’re a tough team, so even though we didn’t win, we have to know that we can play with all these tough teams,” Olsen said. “Yeah, we have to learn from it, but we can’t hang our heads. We’ve had a really good run. We lost one,” she continued.
Olsen joined Iowa last year and is already the team’s lead scorer, averaging 17.8 points per game this season. She also averages 3.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 44.1 percent shooting per game.
Following closely behind her is forward Hannah Stuelke with a 12.8-point average per game, while Sydney Affolter leads the team in rebounds with 8.1 grabs per game.

Iowa entered Monday’s game with a six-game winning streak, showing that the Hawkeyes are indeed a promising team this season. However, Iowa has endured an inconsistent season, leading to being unranked and an 18-8 overall record with an 8-7 mark in Big Ten play.
Next, Olsen and her Hawkeyes will take on No. 3 UCLA for the first time since 2016. The matchup is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 23, from Iowa City, Iowa.
