Flau’Jae Johnson’s Double-Digit Point Streak Reaches 36 Games, Nearly 365 Days

The No. 7 LSU Tigers are not only looking to bounce back from Sunday’s loss but are also playing for a greater cause when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday night.

The Bayou Bengals will host their annual “Play4Kay” game, an event dedicated to raising awareness for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Guard Flau’Jae Johnson, recognized as one of the organization’s Servant Leaders, has worn a special patch on her jersey all season to honor the cause.

But this game also holds a special in-game moment that Johnson could remember forever.

    Flau’Jae Johnson’s Double-Digit Point Streak Reaches 36 Games

Flau’Jae Johnson’s contributions extend beyond her leadership role in the annual “Play4Kay” game. So far this season, she has maintained a remarkable level of consistency on the court, scoring double-digit points in 36 consecutive games. The Boot Krewe Media X account highlighted her achievement.

“Flau’Jae Johnson is as CONSISTENT as they get,” the post was captioned.

On Sunday, LSU battled a top-five Texas team in a sold-out Moody Center in Austin. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Tigers fell short, losing 65-58. Johnson, however, continued her impressive streak, finishing the game in double figures once again.

Her status for the Texas matchup had been uncertain. LSU initially listed her as questionable on Saturday and later downgraded her availability hours before tip-off.

During warmups, she wore a sleeve on her lower right leg, leading to speculation about whether she would play. Regardless of her condition, she delivered yet another strong performance. February 25 of last year against Tennessee, almost a year ago, was the last time she failed to reach 10 points.

LSU Rallying Behind Play4Kay and Johnson’s Efforts

Beyond her on-court success, Johnson is making an impact off the court. Associate head coach Bob Starkey has pledged to donate one dollar for every LSU student attending Thursday’s game. Johnson announced that she would match Starkey’s donation, with all funds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Starkey’s connection to the cause is personal. His wife, Sherie, is a breast cancer survivor, and he has committed to pledge every season. Johnson has supported his efforts since her freshman year, demonstrating her commitment to giving back.

The game against Georgia is one of four remaining games for the Tigers. LSU is set to close out its SEC schedule with matchups against No. 14 Kentucky, No. 18 Alabama, and Ole Miss. As LSU looks to finish strong before the postseason, Johnson’s leadership on and off the court continues to be a driving force for the team.
