Is Azzi Fudd Going to the WNBA in 2025? Here’s What We Know

UConn Huskies star Azzi Fudd is wrapping up her senior season, but she still has an extra year of eligibility and could return for one more run. Until recently, Fudd remained undecided about whether she would declare for the WNBA Draft.

She earned First Team All-Big East honors after an impressive 2025 campaign. Fudd averaged 12.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. She also posted a career-best 47.2% shooting mark from the field and shot 43.4% from 3-point range—her most efficient season yet.

Is Azzi Fudd going to the WNBA in 2025?

Fudd’s father, Tim Fudd, spoke with CT Insider about the possibility of his daughter leaving early for the WNBA.

“Her motto all year is staying present in what’s happening right now,” he said. “It’s not a priority at this point in time to focus on that when they have an opportunity to do some really good things.

“It’s bittersweet for me. That’s probably the best word…I think, unfortunately, if this was the end, it’s sad to say that UConn probably didn’t see the best of Azzi, and the best of her game is still yet to come, which is going to be something quite, quite awesome to see.”

In good news for the Huskies and their fans, Fudd has announced she will return to Storrs next season for her final year of eligibility. The decision could be driven by several factors, but perhaps the most important is that Fudd is finally healthy—and thriving.

After an injury-plagued college career, Fudd wants to prove to WNBA scouts what she’s capable of when at full strength.

She’s playing with a sense of urgency and confidence, as shown in her Feb. 28 performance against then-No. 2 South Carolina, when she poured in 28 points to lead UConn to a statement win.

Fudd was widely seen as a late first-round pick. While some mock drafts omitted her due to her uncertain plans, many analysts believed she would be selected earlier than projected if she declared.

According to Bleacher Report’s Rachel Galligan, she was projected as high as No. 8 to the Connecticut Sun.

UConn will lose standout Paige Bueckers to the WNBA Draft, but Fudd will return alongside freshman Sarah Strong and redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy from this year’s starting lineup.

The Huskies are expected to remain among the nation’s elite—and this time, Fudd may be leading the way.
