Hailey Van Lith Leads TCU to Victory With Historic Performance

The Horned Frogs (26-3, 14-2 Big 12) controlled the game almost entirely, leading for all but four minutes. Van Lith and Sedona Prince combined for 46 points, fueling a strong first half that saw TCU take a 39-20 lead into the locker room.

The Frogs never allowed West Virginia to close the gap to single digits, holding the Mountaineers to season lows in total points, first-half points, and field goal percentage (.305, 18-59).

This victory marked TCU’s fifth win over a ranked opponent in the 2024-25 season and kept them tied for first place in the Big 12 with No. 19 Baylor. With two regular-season games remaining, TCU’s championship hopes depend on Baylor’s upcoming matchup against No. 12 Kansas State.

If Baylor loses, TCU will have the opportunity to play for a share of its first-ever Big 12 basketball title when it faces Houston on Wednesday.

The win also helped TCU set new program records for total wins, Big 12 victories, and home wins (18). The Horned Frogs extended their home winning streak to 21 games, the longest active streak in the Big 12.

Van Lith led all scorers with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting and delivered a personal 8-0 run in the fourth quarter to push TCU’s lead to 65-43 with 4:22 remaining.

Prince played a crucial role on both ends of the floor, finishing with 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven blocks, coming close to a triple-double. Agnes Emma-Nnopu led all players with 10 rebounds, while Madison Conner contributed a game-high six assists. TCU controlled the boards, outrebounding West Virginia 42-27.

The Mountaineers, known for their aggressive pressing defense, typically force an average of 25 turnovers per game, but TCU committed only six, staying disciplined and in control. Van Lith and Donovyn Hunter hit back-to-back three-pointers early to give TCU a 20-9 lead after one quarter.

A late 9-1 run in the second quarter, capped by Van Lith’s fast-break layup and three-pointer, secured TCU’s double-digit halftime advantage.

Prince dominated the third quarter, scoring eight points, including two and-one finishes, to maintain a 16-point lead. The Horned Frogs then shut down West Virginia in the fourth, holding them without a field goal for over four minutes while Van Lith closed the game with another scoring burst.

TCU capitalized in the paint and at the free-throw line, combining for 47 points in those areas while limiting West Virginia’s top scorers, JJ Quinerly and Jordan Harrison, to just 24 total points.

TCU’s Final Home Game and Senior Night

With this win, TCU committed the second-fewest turnovers (18) of any team in Big 12 play against West Virginia’s defense. The Horned Frogs will look to close out their home schedule on Wednesday against Houston (5-22, 1-15 Big 12).

A win would make this only the second time in program history that TCU has finished undefeated at home, the last time being in the 2008-09 season when they went 15-0.

Wednesday’s game will also serve as TCU’s senior night, where the program will honor seven graduating players: Conner, Emma-Nnopu, Una Jovanovic, Deasia Merrill, Prince, DaiJa Turner, and Van Lith.

As the team looks ahead to the postseason, TCU has positioned itself as a strong contender for a deep tournament run.
