LSU Tigers guard MiLaysia Fulwiley just won an international competition for her country, and she is receiving support from everywhere in the women’s college basketball world. On Sunday, June 7, Fulwiley and the rest of Team USA Women won this year’s FIBA 3×3 World Cup Gold Medal. They did so by defeating Australia 21-20 in the winner-take-all game by a clutch two-pointer from Fuliwiley’s current teammate, Mikaylah Williams.
This is the fourth gold medal for Team USA Women in the competition, having won it in 2023, 2014, and 2012 as well. Thus, the country is now all in on their support towards the squad, including an unlikely figure from the South Carolina Gamecocks for Fulwiley. The young talent posted about the gold-medal triumph on her Instagram the next day, and she received a response from Khadijah Sessions, one of her former coaches.
“FEELS OSO GOOD 🙂↔️🙂↔️🥹 #goldmedalist #usa #goddid🙏🏽❤️,” Fulwiley captioned with several emojis.
Sessions currently resides as an assistant coach for coach Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks. She dropped a four-word comment on Fulwiley’s post.
“You the one twin ❤️,” Sessions wrote with an emoji.

Fulwiley infamously left the Gamecocks after the 2025 NCAA tournament, where they lost to the UConn Huskies in the national championship game by 23 points, 82-59. The Columbia, South Carolina native then transferred to the LSU Tigers for the 2025-26 campaign, who are the Gamecocks’ arch rivals in the SEC.
MiLaysia Fulwiley treated her 2026 SEC semifinal matchup against her former team the same with others
Back in the 2026 SEC tournament, MiLaysia Fulwiley and the LSU Tigers faced the South Carolina Gamecocks in the semifinal. Ahead of the much-anticipated game, Fulwiley told Greenville News reporter Kamryn Jackson that she was approaching it the same way she would any other game. Unfortunately for Fulwiley, the Tigers lost to her former team by six points, 83-77.
“It’s the next game, it’s a new game for us. Same mindset, got to go out there and do what we need to do. It feels good coming back here. I played here in high school, and it meant a lot to me. I won a lot of games here, it’s just great to be here. Plus, I get to see my family. It was nice, I always enjoy seeing them,” Fulwiley was quoted as saying.
