South Carolina Head Coach Dawn Staley Drops a Thrilling Comment Ahead of Matchup With Georgia
Staley has been the head coach of the Gamecocks since 2008. In that time, she has had an incredibly successful run, winning three national championships in 2017, 2022, and 2024. This season looks like it could be another impressive run for the Gamecocks. Staley is a great motivator and often expresses herself on social media.
Ahead of the game on Thursday, she went on X to express her excitement. She only needed three words to get her message across.
“IT’S GAME DAY!!!”
IT’S GAME DAY!!!

Heading into the game, the Gamecocks were big favorites. They have dominated opponents all year, with their only loss coming to the No. 1-ranked team in the nation. However, it is important for them not to get comfortable.
While the Bulldogs aren’t an elite team, any team can win on any given night in women’s college basketball. Upsets happen all the time, so playing poorly because they think it is going to be an easy win could end poorly.
Staley didn’t let her team go easy on the Bulldogs, as the Gamecocks cruised to a 74-42 win. She is a fierce competitor and has proven that as a coach and as a player. Staley has been a successful coach, winning three national titles, reaching the final four of the NCAA tournament six times, and winning the SEC Championship eight times.
She was also named the Coach of the Year on four occasions, including each of the past three seasons.

Her career as a player was also incredibly impressive. It started in 1994 and went on until 2006. She was a six-time all-star in the WNBA from 2001 to 2006.
Additionally, she played in the Olympics for the United States of America in 1996, 2000, and 2004, winning the gold medal in all three attempts.
