Arizona State Transfer Kennedy Basham Commits to TCU: What It Means for the Frogs

Kennedy Basham, a 6’7″ junior forward, has committed to TCU after transferring from Arizona State, where she made a strong impact during the 2024-25 season. In her one year with the Sun Devils, she played in 31 games, starting 24, and averaged 5.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game while shooting 40% from the field.

Although Arizona State finished the season with an 11-20 record, Basham’s size and versatility made her an attractive transfer option, with TCU, Washington, Colorado, and Louisville all interested.

What Kennedy Basham Brings to TCU’s Frontcourt

Basham brings size, defense, and experience to TCU’s frontcourt. Her 48 blocks led the team, and she had multiple blocks in 15 games, showing her strong defensive skills. Basham’s best performances included scoring 15 points against Washington and grabbing 10 rebounds against Nevada.

At 6’7″, she gives the Horned Frogs a strong presence in the paint, especially with her shot-blocking ability. Her 2.6 blocks per game last season show how much she can change games on defense. Basham’s rebounding and ability to alter shots will help TCU right away.

With star guard Olivia Miles also committing to TCU, the team is adding key pieces on both ends of the floor as it looks to take a big step forward.

For the 2025-26 season, TCU women’s basketball is set to feature a towering frontcourt with four players standing 6-foot-7 or taller—a rare sight in NCAA women’s basketball. Basham joins a group that includes Clara Silva (6-7), Sarah Portlock (6-8), and Emily Hunter (6-8), giving TCU serious size in the paint.

This length could make a big difference on defense and the boards, especially when paired with guard Olivia Miles, who recently committed to the team.

With Basham now in the mix, TCU continues to build a team that blends size, talent, and experience. The Horned Frogs are positioning themselves as a serious contender heading into the 2025-26 season, and with key additions like Basham and Miles, the expectations are rising.

If everything comes together, TCU could be looking at another deep tournament run—and maybe even more.
