Gators Fans Are Celebrating DJ Lagway Before the Spring Session
On X, user @GatorChompXX posted a hype video of DJ Lagway with the caption, “Why be mad when you got DJ Lagway?” The post quickly gained traction, with many Florida fans celebrating the young quarterback’s potential.

However, not everyone was sold on the idea of focusing solely on Lagway. One fan responded, “We got more than DJ, let’s not forget these other names. There’s more than just our QB.”
The Gators are heading into 2025 as one of the most intriguing teams in college football. After an 8-5 finish in 2024, including a Gasparilla Bowl win over Tulane, momentum is on their side.
Head coach Billy Napier’s job seemed in jeopardy last season, but a strong finish, including wins over LSU and Ole Miss, secured his future. Now, with Lagway leading the offense, expectations are sky-high.
Lagway’s rise came after stepping in for an injured Graham Mertz. He led the Gators to a 6-1 record in his seven starts, only losing to Georgia before battling back from a hamstring injury.
Despite limited mobility, he showcased his arm talent, throwing for 1,915 yards and 12 touchdowns. His deep passing was particularly impressive, ranking No. 1 in “big-time deep throw” percentage.
With two elite wide receivers, Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson, joining the team, Lagway has the weapons to elevate the offense. His main challenge this offseason will be reducing turnovers, particularly on intermediate throws.
