Who Is Performing the National Anthem at the College Football Playoff National Championship?

The pregame entertainment before the college football National Championship Game includes a rendition of the national anthem from an award winner.

The National Championship Game is college football’s showpiece event, and every effort is made to make it the spectacle it deserves.

The pregame entertainment will be an event worth watching on its own, with renditions of America the Beautiful and The Star-Spangled Banner getting us set for the big game. But who will be singing the national anthem?

Who Is Singing the National Anthem at the National Championship Game?

Grammy award winner Fantasia will sing the national anthem before the National Championship Game. There will be a huge pregame celebration that will include honoring the military and a performance of the national anthem from the award-winning star.

Fantasia is best known for winning American Idol in 2004 and hitting No. 1 in the charts the same year with I Believe. She has sold over three million records and has even had a best-selling memoir. Her hits include Truth Is, Bittersweet, and When I See You.

Fantasia’s music has achieved multi-platinum success, and in 2012, VH1 ranked her 32nd on a list of the 100 Greatest Women In Music.

Recently, Fantasia has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in The Color Purple, and she is expected to release new music in 2024.

Before Fantasia sings The Star-Spangled Banner, a ceremony will include a presentation of the Nation’s Colors by the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard from the Military District of Washington, including members from across the armed forces. The pregame ceremony will also feature troops deployed in Latvia via a video feed.

There will also be a performance of America the Beautiful from The Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Musical Theatre Academy Ensemble. This non-profit is “dedicated to enriching lives through innovative musical theatre, inclusive educational curriculums, and dynamic community engagement.”

William Stokes, a Deer Park, Texas, student, will also perform The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful in sign language.

There will also be recognition for the 2023 Teacher of the Year during the pregame entertainment. The CFP works closely with Extra Yards for Teachers, and their year’s best teacher winner will be honored before the national anthem.

The pregame ceremony will also feature the marching bands from Michigan and Washington, which will be heavily featured across the broadcast.

The Michigan Marching Band performed the national anthem at the Rose Bowl, and both are expected to take to the field during halftime.
